How do I place an order?
See our Ordering page to order. For an overview of the transfer process, see How It Works.
What's your turnaround time?
Orders of 30 or fewer tapes/records normally take 1-4 workdays. Any more than that and we'll need to talk about it.
How much is shipping? How long does it take?
Standard shipping (all orders): $5, via USPS Media Mail (2-7 days)
Priority shipping (1-9 CDs): $15, via USPS Priority Mail (1-3 days)

We will e-mail you as soon as your order is completed. All orders are shipped within one business day of completion, and the time it takes to reach you depends on how close you are to Philadelphia: usually 2-7 days at the most, or 1-3 days with Priority shipping. Priority shipping on orders of 10 or more CDs is calculated by weight.
I have four hundred eighty-three LPs I desperately want on CD before they rot. Any chance of a volume discount?
Absolutely--Bulk orders are not only welcomed, but discounted. Send us an e-mail with your needs, and we'll give you a quote and estimated delivery date. For orders without any custom options, see our Pricing page.
Where's my shrink wrap?
We remove and discard shrink wrap (not removable plastic dust covers) on LPs to avoid reflections which might spoil scans of the album's cover art. If you'd like to keep shrink wrap on your LPs, just let us know!
This cassette/record is irreplaceable! I just can't put it in the mail.
Perfectly understandable. A cassette or record being lost or damaged at any point in this process is extremely rare, and you'll get yours back with the CD. Still, we understand if you don't like the idea of handing your tapes or records to strangers. We recommend a couple smart precautions:

For tapes: Make a copy of your audio cassette with any dual-deck cassette player and send us the copy instead.
For records: Use a reliable shipping method like the UPS Store. They pack records very well and use tracking so it won't get lost. You can even buy $1000 of insurance for about ten dollars.
My record is scratched. Can you fix it?
Most likely, yes! After a thorough cleaning, combined with precise digital filtering and enhancement, record noise is greatly reduced. Your CD's sound is guaranteed to be clearer, and unless your record is in very poor condition, the few scratches that remain should hardly be audible.
Can you put two or more short records or cassettes on CD?
LPs/cassettes: We don't normally do this, but this would be a good thing to include in a custom order email, as we might be able to depending on certain circumstances.
45s: Certainly, this happens automatically (see our Pricing page for more information).
What happens to my double-LP albums and compilations?
Two-, three-, and four-LP albums and compilations are, as mentioned above, priced by the record, not the album. A three-LP album converted to Deluxe CDs, for example, would total $40.85 including Standard shipping.
Will this work for speeches, interviews, books on tape, etc?
Absolutely. The tapes can be of anything, in any language.
What about microcassettes? Reel to reel?
We only handle standard audio cassette tapes. For all other formats, look in the "Video and Audio Tape Duplication" section of your yellow pages.
How is the record or cassette broken up into tracks? What about the lead-in and lead-out?
Every cassette's lead-in and lead-out are discarded. After pressing 'play' on your new CD, the first song will start in a couple seconds, and the CD will end just a few seconds after the last song is over. Studio-published tapes with the Deluxe option are divided into tracks by song, while Standard cassette CDs are transferred one track per side.

The CD will sound just like the cassette. Track points actually don't sound like anything. The pauses between songs don't change, and no little "blips" are inserted at the track points. All the track points do is let you skip from track to track like a regular CD. Regardless of how a CD broken into tracks, it is guaranteed to include the tape's entire sound program.
Do you listen to my cassette/record or keep a backup copy of it?
No and no. The conversion system is entirely automated, and we couldn't possibly listen to every record and tape even if we wanted to. We will have to monitor to your tape/record during conversion, however, if there is a technical problem and we need to compare the digitized signal to the original.

We do keep a temporary backup of cassettes and records for 30 days after the date of shipment. This lets us reconstruct them in the extremely rare event of their being lost or damaged during shipment. After those 30 days, though, the backup is permanently deleted.
What if the CD/DVD doesn't play?
Even though we use the best writers and CD-R media, some old CD players just can't handle them. In that case, send the CD's back for a refund (or consider getting a new CD player).
What if my records/cassettes get damaged?
We offer a 100% guarantee for your media's safety after it reaches us. If your records/cassettes are damaged when we receive them, we'll skip the damaged items and simply refund the appropriate amount.
Is this legal?
Conversion of media you personally own to new formats is completely legal, provided you don't sell or illegally distribute copyrighted music.
Can I make copies of my new CDs with my own CD-R burner?
Certainly. It's your CD and you can do whatever you want with it. It's formatted like any other CD so that you don't have to do anything special to copy it.
